Ventilation Ports, Access Holes, Etc.

Since many vault rooms are occupied by personnel throughout the workday, it is necessary that air conditioning is available to make the workspace comfortable. Ventilation ports are incorporated into wall or roof panels to facilitate the heating/air conditioning contractor.  Vent port openings are typically sized 4" x 16" for airflow but can be increased in size as long as it meets UL specifications. Please inquire within for more details. Running air ducts outside of the room to the vent ports allow the maintenance of a maximum clear height within the vault.  Provision is made to allow for the attachment of HVAC vents without jeopardizing the vault security.

A minimum of four 1" diameter access holes are supplied with each vault room.  These holes are required for access into the vault by contractors needing to bring services into the vault, such as electrical, telephone, data, alarm surveillance, etc.  Holes are usually located close to the vault door in either a roof or wall panel, but can be located where required by the customer.  To meet UL specifications, holes are placed no closer than 4" on center.

Sprinkler Access  When required by local building code, sprinkler access can be provided in accordance with UL specifications.  These access holes are limited to 1-1/4" ID and 1-1/2" OD.  To eliminate the need to run sprinkler pipes within the vault, and maintain the maximum clear height within the room, clients often have us locate holes in roof panels where the sprinkler heads are to be located internally.  Sprinkler lines are then run over the vault, dropping down and through the holes where sprinkler heads are installed just below the underside of the panel.
