Wall Safes

Wall Safes are typically thought to be safes that fit behind paintings.  Yet, the ones we usually see in movies are placed within a "stage set", not a real wall.  In addition, the majority of these safes are larger and deeper on-the-floor models that were propped up on a platform.  The main problem with typical wall safes you'll find in the marketplace is that they are designed to fit into walls that are usually only 4" thick.  Unfortunately it's virtually impossible to store and organize many items within such a safe (the actual storage depth being closer to 2", far less than the inside depth of a medicine cabinet in a typical bathroom wall!!!).  In addition it is impossible to properly secure such a safe within a thin wall, making such a product easy to rip out of the wall with common hand tools.  (There have been many such successful burglaries, where the burglars netted values ranging from $25,000 and up.)  Safes designed to fit into such thin walls are extremely light gauge in construction which makes them easy to break open with common hand tools.  Therefore, safes like these should not be relied upon to protect value that you don't want to lose.

The inital "cool" idea of concealing a safe in a wall ends up not being a realistic solution for the majority of our clients.  That is, once our clients fully consider what it is they want to put in the safe, along with its value, they realize that they need a much bigger (and stronger) safe to store and organize everything.  Should you want to install a safe within a wall, it is recommended that you first select the right size/capacity and security level and then have a contractor prepare a "false wall" in which the safe can be placed and secured on a substantial platform within this wall.  The majority of our clients end up opting to install safes such as our Avenue and Professional models within such walls...safes designed to provide "real burglary protection".

After analyzing this, if all you need is a "wall safe" that must rely heavily on being concealed in order to provide the security you require, please consider the following safes when speaking with our security consultants:

Model WS1214 solid steel wall safe was designed for walls 10" in thickness, so chances are you'll need to build a false wall for this safe.  This safe is much stronger than the typical light guage wall safe, so if it's installed securely, it will provide more security.

Utility Series Safes.  Please refer to the various models offered in this section.  These safes are much more secure than the typical light guage wall safe and require a wall thicker than 4" for installation purposes.  We can supply these safes with steel angles welded to their sides so the safe can be secured to the wood studs in a wall fabricated for the size of the safe.  We can even reduce their depth to accommodate somewhat less deep walls.

Other models are available upon request....even the light guage models (perish the thought)....yes, we'll sell them to you, but don't expect us to do it without a reasonable amount of protestation!!!
